FIRST im using my pc for almost 2hrs. it automatically shut off.so ithink the prob is my sdram bec it happen before it was shutdown and i bring my pc to repair center and the technician was only change the position of my two sdram then it will ok.then il do it again when it happen.thenmy friend told me that ive got a viruse. so we decided to format it,but when we format,it will SHOW on my pc that a error on loading system.then my friend THOUGHT yht my mother board was defffective.what can i do?
Is your computer a custom-built unit or a name brand? If the latter, what make and model is it?

As I understand it, the basic problem has been that the computer just shuts down after being on for 2 hours or so. Is that right?

What OS are you using? Do you have a genuine MICROSOFT CD for Windows?

How did you format the hard DRIVE? Did the formatting complete? And, then, you tried to install Windows? At what point did the error occur? Exactly what is the error message?my pc is a custom built,and ihave no genuine cd .when we format itwill stop on formating partition.and a message show it canot format partition maybe the disc has aprob.then after afew mins.the computer shutdown itself.so in other words it did not finished formating pc.then we pwer on agai and this will be tha message."ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM"Exactly how are you re-installing without a "genuine" XP CD ? ?

The price of a new MBoard is about the same as the price for a Windows CD...

Problem is without the latter you cannot find out if it is the former...
