Answer» iam running Microsoft window home edition and iam trying to install a game i have called " independence war" made by ocean in 1998, the game would run on my older windown 98 computer. when i try to install i get a error pop up saying " C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. This system file is not suitable for running ms-dos, and windows aplications."
i can click on two buttons " Ignore, cancel" but no matter wich one i click on it just stope the instalation.
Does anyone have any IDEA on how i can fix this thank you in advance.I think I replied to your message on another forum..... If you click on the link below, it could fix your problem, but I haven't tried ot myself.... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767
[glb]Flame[/glb]You could try this. Right-click its icon and go to compatability. Try a variety of different modes. If that doesn't work, try what Flame said. Is this a DOS game?I agree with Neil.... Check the compatibility. MAYBE if you give us some of your system specs, we could help just a BIT more.....
[glb]Flame[/glb]I kinda play this game myself...well used to.. This game has tons of problems but alot of the problems get solved in the forum of the game..if that doesnt work u can check out the website http://www.i-war2.com/forum/default.aspFeel free to give us your ystem specs. at any time now..... lol
[glb]Flame[/glb]Is it a DOS game?No the game is not a dos game, and i dunno why it could give him an error like that, but again, the game is full of bugs as i play it and i have problems with it CONSTANTLY. Its a great game man, but want my suggestion? return the game, and buy X2-The Threat or The new space simulation called something jupitor incident I believe u r into space simulations so u can go to the store u bought IW2 from and ask him for suggestions but i persoanlly like X2, and space rangers.
The problem ur having might not even be a faulty thing in UR pc, it could be the game itself When you get an answer, I'd sure like to know. I have a problem using existing software or trying to install new XP compatable software after installing XP2 and I've spent an entire month troubleshooting w/ Dell support with no results. I've been through all of the microsoft "fixes" like expanding config.nt, autoexec.nt and command.com. Nothing helps. I even tried UNINSTALLING XP2 service pack and even that did not work. I don't see any comments I have not yet tried here. I'd like to find a fix without completly reinstalling XP from scratch and loosing all my files in the process. BechapHaving the same trouble as you. :-/ Unable to load anything under the 16bit sub system> I've tryied the fix at microsoft and it doesn't work. Please let me know if you come up with a solution to this problem. Scottsee if there are any patches on the makers website...or use a ps2 box..... See Calum's reply. It worked for me. bechapThis is a 4 Year old Topic....
