Solve : Explorer Doesn't List External SATA Drive?

Answer»

I have installed a USB 2.0 SATA HDD External Box on my laptop. I find in listed in devices as a USB Mass STORAGE Device and when I TROUBLESHOOT it the OS says that it is working properly. But when I open WINDOWS Explorer it is not listed as a drive. What do I do to GET Explorer to find and use the drive - I want to use it as a Back up.How does it show in Disk Management ? ?

If it was SHIPPED as a blank HDD Windows cannot see/use it until it is formatted. It shows as unallocated. I figured out that means it is not formatted. But I can't figure out how to format it.
Right clik unallocated space and select Allocate...then right clik the drive and select format...NTFS.
