Answer» Hi everyone, I installed windows XP on my new computer LAST night and during setup, I was told that mswsock.dll and framedyn.dll couldn't be copied on to my system for setup. I retried but it STILL didn't work so I clicked "ignore". The computer WORKED fine but every time i started up, I would get some rundll errors because I didn't have those files.
So I went on the internet and downloaded mswsock.dll and framedyn.dll and things that required mswsock started to work but when I restarted, the computer took ages to start up and loads of apps (including explorer.exe) have stopped working.
How can I sort this out? I think it's a problem to do with mswsock.dll (i managed to REMOVE framedyn.dll) but couldn't delete it because it was "in use" and now the taskbar, desktop, etc (everything) doesnt show so I can't have another go at deleting mswsock.dll (in the system32 folder). How can I delete mswsock.dll?
Thanks everyone! DomTry deleting it in Safe Mode
May I ask if this is a genuine Windows CD, not a copy or fake version?Quote from: Dominicc2003 on December 12, 2008, 02:24:09 AM Hi everyone, I installed windows XP on my new computer last night and during setup, I was told that mswsock.dll and framedyn.dll couldn't be copied on to my system for setup. This is DUE to a dirty CD or CD drive. Clean the CD and try a different drive to install your O.S.
