Solve : explorer.exe reboots upon opening a folder.?

Answer»

For some reason, whenever I open a normal folder (USING Ctrl+O in programs will open the mini-browser SORT of thing just fine, THOUGH) explorer.exe reboots, and, in doing so, denies me access to the folder. It displays no error messages; the taskbar/startbar just disappears and reappears, as do the desktop icons. I watched the process in the task manager, and it does indeed kill the process, and then run it again. I did that manually, I ran AVG anti-virus, Spyware Search-and-Destroy, Ad-Aware Pro, and Eusing Registry cleaner, all to no avail.

I don't remember much of my computer's specifications, and since I cannot get to my control panel, I can't tell you much. What I do know somewhat is I'm using an HP Compaq Presario Notebook, running Windows XP Home edition. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon XPRESS 200. My processor is an AMD Turion64 or something.  I *think* I have two sticks of RAM, at 512MB each, giving me a total of 1GB. I think my hard drive is SATA, and it holds ~60 GB.

I can't fit my HijackThis! log, copy+paste-wise, on here, since I have an annoying character limit. I took the liberty of attaching it here, although I had to put it in a zip file since the forum here hates me, clearly...but I digress.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated, and I thank you for your time.Awesome, the kitchen sink is all we were missing here at CH
I had a look at your log, there's nothing that seems out of place to me.
Hopefully a HJT expert will be along shortly and can confirm what's good or bad in there, as I'm not quite certain.
What happened before this problem started, or has it always been like this?
And what OS is this? Are you able to go into Device Manager? I'm wondering if there's something wrong with one of your drivers, particularly the video driver.

Gizmo73Well, thanks for the help, everyone, but I just did a system restore of two days earlier and everything's fine now.

<_<

Sorry about that. Lucky I add system restore points a lot, huh?The only thing better than that is an imaging program which is more secure and can be saved to a DVD.   Quote
