while i was troubleshooting my xp machine EXPLORER crashed, my task bar and desk top are gone. how can i get explorer back without rebooting? :-/old guy....what do you mean your desktop is gone ....?
what was it you were troubleshooting ?
Why dont you wish to reboot ?

dl65 when the windows explorer crashed i was WORKING on another problem, my copmuter was randomly rebooting or it would fail with a blue screen, so then the desk top icons are missing and the task bar is gone. i dont want to reboot because i have FILE i haven't  save that are very important, so can i get explorer back with out rebooting and what may cause the computer to randomly reboot please help. very important thanks for any adviseReboot is not the proper word to describe what you mean.

Windows restarts without warningctrl alt del...will bring up the task manager PROVIDING you have not hit this control more than three times...have a look and end tasks which may not revelant... ..this may help save the file ...and then re-boot...it maybe overheating problems corupt drivers play about and of course trojans/worms//
