Answer» Hi.
i spent the whole day searching the internet for solution to my problem.
Last night i bought an LG SGA-5120D external DVD BURNER, because my laptop does not have a dvd burner.
I connected the drive to my laptop through a USB cable but then a warning message popped that read "HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into non-HI-SPEED USB Hub" so i used an IEEE 1394 cable instead. The dvd burner was connected and installed but the problem is i couldn't burn dvds on the drive. when i go to "My Computer" the name of the drive shows as "DVD-RAM Drive (E:)" and when i insert a blank DVD-R or DVD+RW the name changes to "CD Drive (E:)" and when i click it i get this message "Winows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows" but the drive can still read music CDS. and when i try burning movie files or any other files by going to the folder and highlighting the file and selecting "Move this file" and choosing the new drive i get the same message "windows cannot read from this disk. the disk might be corrupted or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows". the weird thing is the drive can read music CDs and movie DVDs but when i insert a blank DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW and click on the drive i get the error message. and the drive is supposed to read and burn all types of media.
i don't know what to do, i re-installed the drive and ran the troubleshooter and updated the anti-virus and ran it several times, and in the device manager it tells me the drive is working fine. sorry it took so long but i want to know if there is a way to fix this. and i want to know if the problem is from my computer or the drive. Please help what DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW disks are used...what space is your HARD drive;ram size;operating SYSTEM...did the lg come with software for burning..and if you strip a dvd down to copy it you will get two films on it?
