Solve : F10 Setup prior to boot of computer, changes do not stay saved.?

Answer»

Windows vista, home premium, 32 bit op system, Service pack 2. a6200n is the model number, it is a hewlett packard. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor 5000+  2.60 GHz.    There is 6 gigs of ram in the motherboard. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 squeezed in onto the pci express slot (graphics card).  And i am using an antec 900 COMPUTER case OPPOSED to the original case. There are cooling modications, but other than that there are no other major modifications.                                  When I attempt to make changes using F10, and entering setup, prior to the computer booting, I am allowed to make and save the changes. But when i reenter setup on next restart or attempt to distern if the changes are in effect after the computer has booted, EVERYTHING is back to default as before. I can make no changes at all and am wondering if there is something i can do about it. I know how to save changes rather than just exit and discard the changes.Replace the CMOS battery. There is a small battery on your motherboard that's about the size of a nickel - part number CR2032. You can buy these batteries just about anywhere, Wal-mart or your LOCAL drugstore should have them.

Make sure that you're grounded to the case the whole time you're working - static electricity can fry your motherboard!
