Solve : fake up RAM for vista...? |
|
Answer» Ok guess who just spent 200$ on Vista Ultimate? And as soon as i pop the disk in it says i require twice the RAM i have... The PC is in an operating status so is it possible to "fake" or convert my HD to RAM? I meet ALL the other requirements (everest )Nope.RAM is cheap. How much RAM do you have?half of the minimum requirements ... the PROBLEM is i dont know where to buy it... no im not going to trust e-baywww.crucial.com - it'll tell you EXACTLY what your computer will take0.o yall have so many handy tools like everest... crucial... any more? you can define some part of your hard drive to be used as RAMThis is exactly what Virtual Memory is, but in no way it'll substitute real RAM. It works more like add-on.Hy Broni, so defining part of HDD memory as virtual RAM will not speed up the computer?(i am using windows XP) nice to talk to you again.I'll try to explain it in simple language, so don't take it literally. First of all, real RAM is much faster, then Virtual Memory, which is located on hard drive. The MAIN point is to have enough of real RAM to handle all of your computer tasks. If you have enough of real RAM, virtual memory doesn't EVEN have to exist. If your amount of RAM is on lower side, you really need to have virtual memory set up. In this case, when your computer tasks drain your real RAM close to 100%, computer starts moving some tasks(i.e. idle programs) to virtual memory. If any of those moved tasks are needed again by computer, they have to be accessed from virtual memory, and this, in fact will SLOW DOWN your computer. So, in general, the more of real RAM you have, the better. That's the most i've seen you type in awhile...are you OK ? ? ?LOOOOOL |
