Answer» Hi there, Target partition must be at least the size of the original source drive What I unsterstand from that message, perhaps i'm wrong, is that my drive isn't as BIG as the drive where the image came from. But that is my problem, that can't be right because that image is made from the exactily same drive!! How can I resolve this problem and get to my really VALUABLE data that is stored on that image? quick help would be appriciatedI'm working under windows xp professional sp2 btw, wouldn't post a new message for SAYING this but as seen I can't edit my own posted posts anymore :-/Have you tried restoring it to a different drive if there is one available? Try restoring in safe mode? And I know Acronis TrueImage can boot from a CD and do imaging stuff from the CD - can drive image xml do that? Are you sure the partition is the same size? Quote Have you tried restoring it to a different drive if there is one available? No other drive is avaible, but I don't see why there should be another avaible :-/ Quote Try restoring in safe mode? Why on earth would that make a difference? Quote And I know Acronis TrueImage can boot from a CD and do imaging stuff from the CD - can drive image xml do that? I don't think so, but still, what would that help to my problem, it's not like that would solve my problem I think Sorry if this answer came a bith rough but I'm really desperate and I don't want to make THINGS worser by do a wrong action Quote QuoteOther drive - maybe there's somethign wrong with the drive/maybe the program doesn't like it?Have you tried restoring it to a different drive if there is one available? No other drive is avaible, but I don't see why there should be another avaible :-/ Safe mode - no idea, random suggestion. It sometimes helps. Boot from CD - the drive wouldn't be in use then. I know I couldn't make an image unless I booted from CD because the drive was in use. Anyway, are you sure that the partition is the same size? And, can you use drive image xml to explore the image? I know Acronis can, without restoring it - it sort of mounts it like just another folder. Then you could get your data back. Also, where is the image stored?blackberry...... Quote Target partition must be at least the size of the original source drive Ok ...lets check a few things....... 1st ....you are using Win XP Pro /SP2 now and the same Win XP Pro/SP2 as before the format ? 2nd... Was the partition size exactly the same size before the format as it is now , after the format ...... ( Not the HD size , but rather the actual partition created on that drive ) ? 3rd....What do you have the backup info stored on now ? ***Sorry about asking things which may have already asked ........ I didn't read any previous posts as I responded directly from a PM *** dl65 Ok ...lets check a few things....... Quote 1st ....you are using Win XP Pro /SP2 now and the same Win XP Pro/SP2 as before the format ?I guess, but this is now a clean install of xp pro with no antivirus, and other programs only standard installed programs and xml partition maker Quote 2nd... Was the partition size exactly the same size before the format as it is now , after the format ...... ( Not the HD size , but rather the actual partition created on that drive ) ? Good question. That might be a problem. The hd size is defenaitly the same size, but the partition size should be too. I formatted them both with the windows xp cd in ntfs. How can I make it bigger? Quote 3rd....What do you have the backup info stored on now ? An externel hd of lacie which is 250 gb but I can NOT restore my image on that one. This is full with important data from clients, as my image is too which I can't restore Thanks for helping and i realy hope we'll FIND the problem soon. |
