Answer» Hello
I have 3 Users on a XP Home Laptop. Windows is corrupted so I took out the hard drive and attached it via USB to my Laptop.
I got the contents of the first two users Documents and Settings folders copied. The third user logon was password protected so I could not access them.
How can I access those files again? (assuming that version of Windows is very dead.)
Thanks for help
David McMahon. You could try the link below but if it's a true password protection i'm afraid you are outta luck...
Taking OwnershipAnother user who has successfully protected their data from themself.
If the link provided doesn't work I think you are SOL. Sorry. Thanks wil retain that (simple) INFO for future it's not for me it's for a friend!

p.p.s but it is true!
p.p.p.s reallyPrehaps your friend could REMEMBER his/her password? Just an idea.
I have a password cracking tool but it only works on the OS you are BOOTING into, wouldn't work on a USB external.Sorry about late replies only RECENTLY noticed the "New replies to your posts link"! above!
anyway taking ownership is something I do regularly now to get people files off dead PC's in my role as a self-employed computer technician!
