Solve : Finding out what ports are used by what programes????

Hi there guys.
First time posting

I play Call Of Duty 4 MW2 alot.
Last week I stopped being able to do this as I can't link onto the games to well.
Activision told me to check my ports.
TCP 27015 came up as blocked by another program.
How do I find out what program is locking this port?

Also I am looking to get a wireless router. Does it need to be a SPECIFIC speed or size to game online with?

I am running Windows XP I think.
Any help would be really handy.

This only matters if you have a very good high-speed internet connection.
But for a Local AREA Network it does matter.

No idea what speed my connection is but I know its not the top one.
Whatever the size is though it handles COD.
I am looking on E-bay for the router, is there any speed or size that won't work or are they all made for it. Thank you for the gaming router link I did see one on Ebay that came off there.

As to the port question. Any ideas? You know anyone I can ask if you aren't sure?

CraighTo my knowledge, all routers let you USE any port. Ade you can configure then to do almost anything you need. Some older routers have a "latency" problem, they are slow to react to some kinds of data streams.

BTW, you can buy a brand new Linksys router made by Cisco on eBay for about $25, including postage, inside north America. These are overstock routers made for T-Mobile VOIP, but function perfectly as a standard wireless router. I jeut bought one last week. Using it to watch movies over a Wii.

The port thing i still don't get. I know that one of the ports is blocked by another programme. I just have NO idea as to how to find out which programme it is so I can change it.

Really frustrating.

CraighPorts can be blocked by:
A Firewall
A resident AV shield
A router
A Windows background service.
Or, you local ISP provider or campus server.

I didn't see the link. Got it now and working on it. `the problem is that I have a Scientific Atlanta (cisco) modem 2203 and it isn't listed on the help page!!!??? Not sure what to do now? Not sure how the *censored* I managed to get the ONLY modem NOT supported lol.

I can't believe I am this computer illiterate.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. That modem is also a router, but only has one Ethernet connection. You can buy a cheap wireless router and tie it to the cable-modem-router and have wireless in your house.Yeah I am doing the cheap wireless thingy. Just waiting to win it on E-bay :-)
