Solve : First BSOD?

Answer»

My girlfriend's mom has a Dell Inspiron 2200 Laptop with Windows XP. She downloaded a game from the internet and when she tried to restart, she got the BSOD. I've tried to restart in safe mode, restart in last known good configuration, and restart normally. All results are the same. Also, I've got her connected thru my network. Its saying:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.
STOP: 0x000000ED (0x8A163368, 0xC0000000E, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Thanks for any suggestions on how to fix this.

**Update: Now its telling me that the device in the system modular bay cannot be identified. It says this right after a reboot.**awwwwwww, c'mon now. Quote from: t_blake07 on October 13, 2008, 09:08:35 PM

^^^^^^^... These change after every restart. (in case you were wondering)

Any new hardware added recently ? ?No new hardware, just connected her laptop to my network a few days ago, and she DL'd that game off the internet. This problem happened right after the game was downloaded.

How do I know which SERVICE pack is on there? I cant do anything but access the BIOS and Boot menu's.If it's a removable CDROM drive power down and remove it...
If not try it with only AC power and the battery removed...
If neither above works you need to CHECK the cabling to the laptop's hard drive.

(Sounds like she DROPPED it )OK. Thanks Patio. I'll give those a try tomorrow after work.Legit game?
