Answer» I have a Dell Computer with windows XP . I use a number of FLASH drives, the one in question is a PNY 8 GB, It has worked well until now I WOULD say it's about a little less than half full. I tried to open it to check on how much space was left and not only would it not open but my computer froze up. I tried a few times to open it, but gave up because I was afraid to harm the computer. Does this mean that it's broken and that I've lost everything on it ??Does it work with other computers?I don't know, I don't have any other and don't k now where I can try it. Just seems strange it worked one minute and not the next.Well, the only way to test if the DRIVE is good is to try it in another computer. You can also try a different drive in your computer just to make sure that works. What type of files are contained on your FD? A CERTAIN thread mentions about Windows explorer crashes on external media storage here. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54365
