Solve : Folder Issues?

Answer»

Running Vista 64 bit and just starting today I can't rename or move folders. I'm pretty sure that means it's a registery key ISSUE but I don't know how to fix it, wondering if someone could please point me in the right direction please.

Thank you.If they are system folders you won't be able to move them.

Can you provide some more information on what you wish to do.No just folders I created, I can't rename them or move them into other folders I've created. I can drag them over and when I release them on the folder I want them to go to it doesn't do ANYTHING. When I try to rename them the "New Folder" becomes highlighted but nothing else. I can't type anything new.

Does that help? Are you logged on as an Admin or a User account ?
AdminTake ownership: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/Thanks but as for clarification by installing that it lets me take ownership of the specific file that is giving me issues now not ACTUALLY fixing what is the problem in the first place.

I don't want to have to do this every time I create a new folder so, I NEED a fix that actually solves my problem.

Or did I completely misread how that works? Cause it told me to uninstall it after taking ownership of SAID file.

Sorry if I'm making this complicated just trying to understand.Let's clarify.
Don't uninstall the tool. It comes handy.

Now, if you take ownership, does rename, move, etc. work?Ok sorry for the delay had to pick up my daughter.

Just as I thought there is no change so the ownership of the folder isn't the problem. So once again how do I fix the problem? I can't rename or move folders I've created.
