Okay,

Do something for me.

If you have access to a XP then goto
Tools->Folder Options->File Types

Now under File Folder check whether you can edit the ENTRIES present there.One thing we never considered....
Maybe it's a 'Windows' PROBLEM?

I don't know but I'm happy it's working for you.
My guess would be RESTORE or repair a file.
Hopefully someone here can answer it because I'm too lazy to look it up.  Okay,

Now how can i lock this topic.I was having this problem too...here's the solution I found:

View>Folder Options>General>Custom View>Settings>"Browse FOLDERS As Follows:" select "Open Each Folder In Same Window"

VOILA!!! Done
