Solve : folder problem?

Answer»

I am using Windows XP with SP2. I have one folder in the disk drive E which contains some images & files. But when i want to open it a message comes that "the disk in drive E is not formatted. do u want to format now". if i click on option yes it may erase data on drive E.

why this is so? please help.1. is the drive internal or external?
2. What kind is it (hard drive pen drive etc)?
it is internal hard disk. Does it happen with one particular folder, or any folder on that drive?Right click My Computer and select Manage...
Then select Disk Management...
How is the drive being reported there ? ?
Right click the drive and select Properties for more info.Till no w it is happening only to one folder. In disk management it is showing HEALTHY disk. You may have some bad sectors on that disk.
Try to run chkdsk /r on it.i checked the disc but drive C. it is clean. my computer was infected with a trojan.zlob. may be this creating a PROBLEM?Yes.
Visit our Virus and Spyware section and follow the guide at the top of the page called reead this first...Also, you should have ran chkdsk on drive E, not C.i ran check disc ERROR my rt clicking the drive & selecting check disc option under tolls menu. but even after 10 hours it couldnt finish 50 %. but to my surprise the folder opened. i also ran ANTIVIRUS, antispyware before. thanx all of u.I think your drive still has problems. Check disk fix the disk so you can get the folder open but you should go to the manufacturer’s web site and see if you can get a utility to check the drive.
Agree with Spoiler here...that drive has issues.
Maybe let the diagnostics run overnight.
It also is better to use the ones from the manuf. website. They are more thorough and also run outside of Windows. Something in Windows may have been interrupting chkdsk which would cause it to restart accounting for the abnormally long scan time.OK, I will try.
