Answer» I am putting together a system and have ran into a very angering problem!!!! I cannot install my OS (Windows Xp Pro)... I set my cd-rom as first in boot SEQUENCE and it still doesn't read it. I have also made it the only one in the sequence and still did not read. I have updated my Bios with a CD-ROM , so the cd-rom is working.
here's a list of my hardware: Asus K8N-E Deluxe EVGA Nvidia 6800GT amd Athlon 3700+ cpu XMS Corsair xtra low latency 1 gig ram (512 x 2)
Any HELP would be unfathombly appreciated!!!!!!oh sorry! i get this message after i leave bios
"Reboot and select proper Boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"Is the copy of XP STORE bought or is it a backup copy? It might not be a bootable copy if it is.is this a retail winxp disk...?did you save the changes in the bios....you could always boot from the six floppy winxp disks...or this site will help you more>http://www.windowsreinstall.com/You may need the bootable Windows XP floppydisks that Merlin recommended..http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=297
that is a link to help you create a bootable disk cdr if you want to (have another computer available,
also your mother board may be like mine and I have to hit f8 after the mem count to manually select the cdrom as the boot device.
the flopppys will work if you have the paitence,,,,,,a lot of paitence, if the thing fails to find the right install file, etc, you have to start over.
