You cannot format a drive which is in use, but you can boot to the Recovery Console on the Windows XP CD and format it from there. Type - format /? - for a list of parameters. E.G. - format c: /fs:ntfs Formatting the boot partition is like trying to pull away a sheet of paper you are standing on. You must either be using a boot floppy or the Windows CD to format the c drive.Quote Formatting the boot partition is like trying to pull away a sheet of paper you are standing on. Seem to remember that you can install a Boot Manager on the first part of the drive followed by a Primary, which would be the C: drive and a second Primary which would be the D: drive. The computer will boot from the Boot partition and the D: drive and ALLOW you to format the C: drive from the D: drive. |
