Solve : Free up RAM HELP? |
|
Answer» I am running win xp pro and the only THING I have Checked in my MSCONFIG startup list is my Anti Virus program. How much RAM do you have to start with? if you didn't have that much ram to begin with, then you should buy some more! Many people look at their free RAM figure, compare it to how much physical RAM is installed, and start to PANIC. They do not need to, usually, because by design Windows will take advantage of most of the RAM that is not actually being used by applications, for its own internal purposes. This memory is released at once if a program calls upon it. There is no point in "FREEING up" RAM for programs that you haven't loaded yet, and might not, if it slows down Windows and makes the programs that you are already running slower. If you have 512M or better, 1GB, and you are not trying to do something RAM hungry like EDIT large images in Photoshop, I wouldn't worry. |
