Solve : Freeze when booting install disc?

Answer»

Exactly what the topic says.

I'm trying to install XP on this old machine I have lying around. Swapped some hawrdware and whatnot, new PSU and a DVD drive. Put in the Windows CD, push any button to BOOT from CD. This is what HAPPENS:

It starts loading, the usual business, just abit after it says that stuff about RAID while loading the installation all the letters disappear except the ones saying Windows XP Installation at the top and it stops doin anything.

What causes this?Could be a bad disc? only guessing on this one.Might try another hard drive if you have?Just tried with a SP1 disc, gives the same results.Did you go to boot options when loading?

When you PC is starting LOOK at the screen when the RAID logo comes on, and see if it tells you press a certain button to enter advanced boot options. Press it, and select boot from CD (presuming you have the XP CD inserted)...

Any luck? Boot options? No no I mean

I already managed to boot the XP cd, sorry if I'm not explaining myself good enoughe hehe.

It's just after this PART all the letters disappear.

Sadly I don't have any other discs than XP so I haven't been able to try with other OS's.
