Answer» A few days ago, my computer (running Windows XP Pro) started frequently shutting down during use. The computer will start up and run FINE for about 20-30 minutes, but then the computer SHUTS off. If I try to turn it back on immediately, the computer makes sort of a whirring sound over and over and will not turn on. Waiting for about 10 minutes seems to alleviate that problem, but the CYCLE just repeats with the computer shutting down again in a short while. Any suggestions? Thanks.I'm wondering if it's your CPU. Are you able to get into the BIOS and CHECK the CPU temp? Usually when this gets to hot, your computer will shutoff randomly like that. Did you check your computer temps?It does sound like a CPU-temp proble- - - open the case and see if your Heat-sink fan is going - - - - could be bad fan or lose connection to MOBO.....Good luck !!!!
