Solve : Full page on start up?

Answer»

My wife's COMPUTER at her business boots up in full screen which she doesn't like. Being an XP guy and unfamiliar with Vista, how can I keep this from happening? It's a pain having to go to the tools menu and unchecking the full screen box after every boot. What do you mean exactly by "full screen"?The Address bar is hidden and has to be cursored to get it to drop down. It gets cursed every now and then too. Do you mean that when she logs in it starts a program? WINDOWS Explorer for example?
I'm not trying to be SMART here but, you know the address bar that is usually at the top of the page where you type an URL? This is what's hidden. Also, if you click on the tools icon at the upper section of the page it has options. One of the options is full screen and is always checked hence hiding the address bar or box as some may call it. I'm sure you were not trying to be smart. When Windows starts up normally, by default, you just get a desktop with a taskbar at the bottom. That's it. Your wifes computer evidently has a program starting up as well, I guess it could be Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer, both of which have an address bar at the top. You need to tell me (us) what this program is. Or give us a clue. Like is it the program for USING the web, or the one for working with documents that are on her computer? And what happens if she or you un-check that full screen option?

EDIT - I reckon that "Tools" menu you spoke of means that she has Internet Explorer 7 or 8 running at startup. If you either:

--- go to the Tools menu and uncheck the Full Screen option

OR

--- press the F11 key to bring it out of full screen

and then use it, it should come up NEXT time not in full screen.

So you're talking about Internet Explorer starting in full screen mode? The F11 key toggles full screen. Thanks for the responses and I know of the solutions you've mentioned. The problem is, even after unchecking the full screen box or clicking on F11 it still boots up with the full screen checkbox rechecked. I tried looking through the start up check list to see if I could find where it may be checked as a default situation but no luck. What is current browser and version? It's a fairly new computer and think it's IE8 but would have to check. I know I've went to IE8 on our home computer and think hers came with IE8. As I said in an earlier post in this topic that not working with Vista very much seemed to be the hangup for me. Although, both XP and Vista have the full screen checkbox in the tools section.Try this: get it out of full screen mode, then hold down the Ctrl key and at the same time close Internet Explorer.

Ok. Follow first Salmon's Post. If nothing still changes. Try removing current browser(IE8) by going to Control Panel. After removing, just download a new IE8 and install and see what comes up then. Will do, thanks for the responses.
