Solve : games running particularly slow?

me and my brother both USE the same game on our computers but his one runs mush smoother and faster.
both systems run around 2 ghz and mine has 1 gb of ram whereas his has 512mbs, if thats any help. I dont know if either have graphics card on them, could that be the problem, if not then whats the problem?Run Everest on both machines & give us some details.

Do you have the latest video drivers installed?
Have you checked the game's website for fixes & patches?Scan for viruses and Spyware. You might also consider running a Disk Defrag. That might help as well.
