Hello all

Firstly I apologise if I have put this in the wrong section, but I wasn't sure which section to make this post in!

Ok, here is the deal. A few weeks ago I got some strange occurences when connected to the internet. For example, when I was offline I could open Microsoft Word, open and old or new documents and work on them with no PROBLEM. However, when online, Word will only opened in safe mode and opening a document took forever.. This is still happening...

But this did not only happen with Word, other programs such as Adobe Acrobat and sometimes even Windows Media player had the same problem. ..and they still do..

I figured it would be some kind of spyware problem, so I downloaded and installed AdAware and SpywareBlaster and I was able to scan with AdAware (found a few baddies and wiped them out) but now both of these programs freeze whether I'm offline OR online...

Above all that, now my MSN Messenger doesn't let me sign on, yet I am able to log on with Windows Messenger...

Plus I still have all the aforementioned problems...

Is it a bigger problem than I thought?

I need help!  

Thank you all in advance!SpywareBlaster is a preventative tool so it will do nothing if you're already infected. Ad-Aware is mainly aimed at adware so that's not at all effective on it's own.
Carry out the procedures LISTED [highlight]in this post[/highlight] and post a Hijackthis logfile here when done.
If possible, zip the logfile and attach it rather than post it.Thank you for your reply.

I FOLLOWED your link and when I get to the stage of scanning with Panda, IE freezes when I try to install Active X..

I guess I have found the root of my problem?

Any ideas how to solve it?

Thanks again!There may be several reasons for this behaviour. Set Internet EXPLORERS security to default levels and try again. If it doesn't work, carry on with the REST of the procedure and we'll come back to it.
