Answer» I know that microsoft has given out a generic code for 98se after they dropped support for it. Has ANYONE heard of one for xp? I know that microsoft has given out a generic code for 98se That is a myth, as far as I know. Microsoft do not abandon or give away any OS, going right back to the EARLIEST MS-DOS. Anyhow, Windows XP is currently in the Extended Support phase until April 8, 2014, when all support, including new security updates and hotfixes, will be terminated. Users will still be able to DOWNLOAD old updates and hotfixes from Windows Update. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_install/windows-98-key-code/b01460e4-74c3-460f-ae54-67aa4ebdf985http://help.wugnet.com/windows2/Generic-Windows-98-Product-Key-ftopict490835.html That's just some guy posting a key on Wugnet. The other posters on that thread were, correctly, pretty doubtful, Windows 98 first and second editions are still copyrighted Microsoft products, and there is no "generic key" released by Microsoft. There are plenty of sources of keys that can be used illegally, but CH does not have ANYTHING to do with that.Sorry, I posted the wrong link. This is the one I meant to post: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_install/windows-98-key-code/b01460e4-74c3-460f-ae54-67aa4ebdf985 I was reading that post from that guy who posted the "cracked" keys and had the other page open at the same time and clicked on the wrong url |
