Answer» I recently uninstalled IE 8 because it wouldn't work with certain websites. I'm left with IE 7. With it I hoped the layout or skin would go AWAY. When I mean layout, it's the one where the big red x is right of the address field. I like the older style skin or classical skin. No setting in IE7 would allow me to back to the classical skin. I launched IE7 directly from C:\WINDOWS\ie7\iexplore.exe and it used the classical skin. Great. But if I launch IE7 from SAY the command prompt, the new skin is used. How can I permanently get rid of the new skin? I only noticed the new skin after I installed IE8. I didn't install any skins from other websites. I'm USING Win XP Pro.Are you sure IE8 is COMPOETELY uninstalled?It's not in Add/Remove PROGRAMS now, but it wasn't before. I followed the directions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700, Alternative STEPS, for Windows XP. C:\WINDOWS\ie8 was empty, then I deleted the folder.
