Solve : Getting online?

Answer»

Well my computer was working perfectly fine last night and now shows to be connected but it will not pull up browsers. I cleared the registry and deleted kapersky anti-virus before and that worked when I was having the same problem before. Tried it again, but to no avail. My lap top connects perfectly so I know the internet is working. It just seems as if this happened to my desktop overnight... Help would be greatly appreciated!

1) What do you mean you cleared the registry?
2) NEVER uninstall your AV if you are going online.
3) How do you know you are online? Have you looked in Network Connections?
4) Have you tried other browsers?5) Do you get a respond if you do Start=>Run and type "cmd /k ping google.com /N 10" without quotes Sorry. I'm not sure if I used the right terminology when I say cleared the registry, but what I did was run
The AV that I had is still on there, but is currently not operating. The computer was doing fine without it for a while, but maybe that's a problem?

The only other browser I have is internet explorer it will not get online either. My computer shows "connected at 100mbps," it says there's packets being sent, but none received. Just as it did before, except no browsers will pull up as if it is offline. EDIT: I did that google ping THING and it does nothing, but POP up and say "cannot find file." Try it without tunneling and see what happens...
I believe that's where the issue lies from my vantage point.Err. How the heck do I do it without tunneling? lol

EDIT: Thanks for trying to help me out guys, but I seem to see what the problem was. It was quite odd and the first time I heard of this. What appears to have been happening was a glitch in my modem.

I had my belkin wireless router connected to my modem, of course, and it was sending out wireless signal at a less than par quality, but was sending signal NONETHELESS. However any system that I had HARDWIRED from the router was not working with which I tried to connect my desktop dell and my ps3 directly from both the router and modem. Neither system worked either way. I set my ps3 to receive wireless signal and bam it worked. Odd...

I was going to change out the modem today, but when I got home I checked to see if everything was still acting up. To my surprise after two days of pulling my hair out and looking bald now the internet is up and working perfectly as it did before. I have no idea what was going on with that modem, but any conflict with is resolved. So I guess the computer isn't always the problem!
