Solve : had virus, reinstalled windows in dif directory? |
|
Answer» I recently had a bad virus, i tried to remove it, but that did not WORK. all the programs i had tried did not get RID of it enough that it didnt come back. so i try prevx1 and it starts going all crazy, then reboots by itself. after the reboot, it gives me the bsod for about 2 milliseconds then restarts. i couldnt figure out what was wrong so i decided to just reinstall windows until i could back up my files, then reformat the drive. So i reinstalled it to a directory called window2 and everything is working fine, except that all my programs are not in the start menu anymore. i re-ran super anti spyware and i believe it removed all the viruses. now my question is, how do i either transfer all my stuff to the NEW windows install or remove my new install if the first one is working now (havnt checked yet) is there any other suggestions? And superantispyware gets viruses? Do you have a real virus scanner?ya it found like 45 instances of smanager, fake svchost, and some other stuff. i used to use mcafee because its free with aol but it sucks so ive been using CA. it caught the virus and said it deleted it but it didnt. should i try logging back on to the original install and see if its fine? if its not how do i transfer my stuff and delete it?also on my new install it says that i have limited or no connectivity. is it something from the old install doing this?Backup your data to a USB or to optical disks and format that puppy and reinstall. It would be easier and QUICKER. |
