Solve : hard drive error codes for XP Home edition? |

Answer» I did a computer dianostic.for the hard drive (SATA on a Dell Inspiron 530s with XP) the other day and found a error code --- 0f00:0244 and 0f00:1A44 MSG:disc_-block 4290500b----looked up the definition of the codes and it said my hard drive was bad . is this correct?I WOULD be interested to know the source(s) of this information "-looked up the definition of the codes and it said my hard drive was bad .". Be cause my research on the first 2 you mention point to likely ISSUES with corrupted operating SYSTEM files which are attributable to quite a variety of POTENTIAL causes (none of which were HDD failure present or imminent. The last of your 3 references could NOT be found at all.truenorthIt's the address of the physical bad sector...if you ran chkdsk it will now be marked as bad and unused...Just to add to patio's post - you'll want to RUN chkdsk /r |
