Solve : Have Vista installed. Want to install XP but have upgrade version only? |
|
Answer» I have Vista Business installed on my computer. I would like to install Windows XP also. I partitioned my hard drive and formatted it so there's an area for Windows XP. I booted from the XP install CD and successfully started the install process but unforturnetly I have only an upgrade version of XP. At one point it was looking to see if I had a previous version of Windows installed on my computer and it can't find anything. Is there a way AROUND this problem or do I need to acquire a full version install CD of Windows XP or something earlier to do the install? If you have a copy of Windows 98SE, 2000, or Me ... Full install CD's available you can use on o fthose when it asks to detect the prior or older OS that is paired up with the clean Upgrade install. Without these, you cant do it without illegally hacking it. I'd pick up a cheap ( original ) of a prior OS on CD that you can pair with this install on ebay etc and go that route or you will have to buy a new Full Copy of XP for about $130Thanks. We think alike. Before I saw your reply I went to ebay. I found a Windows 95 full version for $ 6 and $ 11.40 shipping. |
