Solve : Having problems with Disk Defragmenter...ugh!?

Ive gone around to a lot of different forums ACROSS the web, but every time I try to analyze of defragment something in disk defragmenter.....a WINDOW POPS up saying "Disk Defragmenter could not start."


HOW CAN I FIX IT =*( ?
Have you cleaned up your disk before attempting defrag? (Disk Cleanup, CCleaner). Have you tried defrag in Safe Mode? Have you tried running defrag from the command line? How much free space do you have on the partition being defragged? (defrag likes 15% or more).

How long is it since you defragged?Run services.msc from the WINDOWS Run box and ensure that the following are set correctly:

Logical disk manager - manual or automatic
Logical disk manager administrative service - manual or automatic
DCOM Server Process Launcher - automatic

Alan <>< yes...unfortunately i've tried all of those things except for TRYING it in safe mode and the command line.....what is the command for that?nvm i just tried it from command prompt and it gave me the same answer.... :\ i checked another forum that had similar symptoms as mine and they discovered that it was caused by mal-ware...iim downloading malwarebytes right now...hope it works. I'm still open to other suggestions though!
Did you use the -f switch at the command prompt?

If you suspect malware I suggest that you consult the CH authorised malware removal specialists on the Computer viruses and malware forum before proceeding with Malwarebytes.Run chkdsk /r once.

Check whether the defrag service and it's associated services (DCOM, Event log etc) are set to automatic or manual in Services.
