Solve : having trouble with the run button?

When i press window's and R to bring up RUN, i type in what i want and click run, a black box appear's on screen for about 2 sec's and goe's away.

I tried it last night and to-night about 5 time's, can ANYONE tell me way it's not working.
What are you typing into it ??I have been trying, sfc /scannow and also ipconfig /allTry this.

Thank's soybean, it's just i had no call to use it before, in XP i think all i had to do click start, type in and click run.tried to run sfc /scannow, and it say's, " you must be admin running a console SESSION in order to use the sfc utility ".Start>All Programs>Accessories>, and then right click on Command Prompt and select "Run as administrator".
