;ok so you turn on your computer, it takes a minute to boot off the Floppy, (a Win98 Floppy i persume?)
then you can SEE this?
A:\>
then you type in format C:
and it looks like A:\>format C:
you hit Enter and it Say's "Bad bommand or file name"
is this what Happens?
You don't need the slash at all:
format c: But unless the program "format" is available on your floppy drive, or SOMEWHERE on your hard drive, this will not achieve anything.Hi right, format not installed, wow what would I do now short of jumping off a tall bridge holding my lap top? thanks don
What floppy were you booting off?
Get Win98 Boot floppy and YOULL have better luck, win98 boot Floppys have format on them
Here Are some boot disks
http://www.mirrors.org/archived_software/www.bootdisk.com/original.htmDo you have a real Windows/DOS bootdisk? If not, you can get ONE from >here<. If FORMAT isn't on the disk you need, follow the link in my signature to the software FAQ, and from there, obtain FreeDOS.Dang. I'm always a couple of steps behind panboy...
