Solve : HELP I'M lOST?

Answer»

I have an acer aspire 3000 lap top. i don't know anything about it except when it comes on after the welcome it goes to a blank blue screen. It won't open in safe mode. I can only get to the dos page but I have no idea what to do with that blinking line. Is there any hope for me.You mentioned you can see the mouse cursor on the chat.

At the blue screen, can you get to the Task Manager when you press CTRL + ALT + Delete at the same time?

If so, start a new process called explorer.exe

What Windows Version is this? (xp, vista, ect...)i am not on that computer. the cursor is the only thing on the blue screen and it won't even start in safe mode. i think it is using xp and i saw something about group 3 or something like that

Can you try my suggestion at all?

Also, when did the problem start?control alt delete dosen't do anything and the problem started 2 days ago it started running slow did a VIRUS scan that fixed EVER so many problems then it restarted and after the welcome screen it is just a blue screen. the cursor is there and it moves but i can't do anything. if i hit f8 during the start i can get to the ms-dos prompt but then i don't know what to do.Hmmmm....What Operating System is this?

Do you have the Windows CD?windows xp home edition and no i don't have the cd. the computer was made for me and they gave me no cd'sCan you borrow a Windows XP Home CD? I think you will need it here.

Is there no option for Safe Mode when you keep pressing F8 on startup?i'm not SURE about the CD but yes there is a place to start in safe mode but when i do it says safe mode in all corners but there is nothing else on the screen except
Microsoft(R)Windows XP(R)(Build 2600.exsp.080413-2111:Service Pack 3) and the screen is blackThat's not right.

When in Safe Mode, can you bring up Task Manager?

If not, you will have to find someone with a Windows XP CD and borrow it.

Once you have it, I suggest performing a Repair Install.
(instructions here: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm)
(note: no personal files will be deleted)I forgot this pretty important question.

What HAPPENED before the problem? (downloads, installs, hardware changes, ect...)i think a little of all of the above. my kids had it and told me it just starting running slow. is there any help possible
