Answer» hi guys, i am currently using a hp pavilion which is very very old, i just bought it from a mate just to use it for internet. so i decided to reformat it. for some reason it wont recognise the windows xp disk, but will boot with sp2 disk. so i ran a FORMAT with sp2 and lost alot of file which with the help of this forum i recovered them, files like ntldr, hal.dll........anyway now the only message i cant get rid of is " \windows\system32\config\SYSTEM" so i decided to reformat it. for some reason it wont recognise the windows xp disk, but will boot with sp2 disk. so i ran a format with sp2What's an sp2 disc? So what are these files you have been recovering? The old system files from before the format or did something go WRONG during a reinstall of XP? You're post is very unclear, you will need to PROVIDE a more detailed description of what you've done so FAR. |
