It was because one of my hardware devices was not compatqable with windows. So I would get the message alot. You can try to reformat that works sometimes or you can do the more derastic and get a new computer. I would try the reformat first. P.S. Sorry for you luck.I had the same problem. I increased the memory on my system as well as installed a larger hard drive. After reinstalling my programs, my computer has been fine ever since. Well I am having the same problem with two PCs one is a desktop Compaq presario and has windows ME.....pentium 3.....standard cd rom and a CD RW drive floppy drive etc. a couple years old. And the other one is a DELL laptop and has Windows XP and a CD ROM..... as for the rest of the stuff in them I am not sure but I could find out....for the desktop the other one wont even load windows...(not in safe either)....For the Dell, power it up and press F2 EVERY few seconds when you see the Dell logo onscreen. When you get to the BIOS screen please notice the Service Tag on the top of the screen and post it here. On the Compaq, press F10 when you see the Compaq logo and see what information you can find there. Post it here. For each machine, what happened prior to the problem. Did you add anything UNUSUAL (hardware or software) lately? What kind of Windows disk do you have available for each - real Windows CD's or restore CD's or what. Be sure and separate the posts like: Dell blah blah blah Compaq Blah blah blah That way we can keep the machines separate.
