Solve : Help me 'Sanitize' boot.ini File!?

Hello Friends!

I used to have UBUNTU (Version 9.0) installed inside Windows XP through Wubi utility.Yesterday, I got rid of the same.However, I didn't prefer to 'Restart The Computer' as & when it asked me for so!

Now though my System is devoid of Ubuntu BUT the 'Boot Screen' continues to reflect 2 options as usual with no response from the Ubuntu choice!

Is there a way to SANITIZE boot.ini file to make it memorize that "I'll remain faithful to Windows ONLY"!? remove the entry for ubuntu.Or delete Boot.iniRight-click My Computer
Select PROPERTIES, Advanced
Select Startup & Recovery, Settings
Select Edit
Remove reference to UBUNTUHi Computer Commando!

Please have a peek at the Boot File entry & help me 'pin-point' that which particular line has to be deleted :

Delete C:\wubildr.mbr = "Ubuntu" or delete the lot!!

If I would delete the whole lot!...how will my System be able to Boot? There are entries related to Windows XP as well!

By the way, Iam STUMPED that how come you have been able to decipher my IP Address & my ISP!???

Boot.ini is NOT required to boot your system when your OS is installed at C:\Windows which yours is. NTLDR is programmed to AUTOMATICALLY boot to the OS at C:\Windows if Boot.ini is not found. In Windows 2000 the OS would of course be at C:\Winnt. All that's lost is the ability to select which OS to load in a multi-booting environment which you don't want.

NTLDR is clever enough to also issue the advisory message "Invalid Boot.ini file - booting from C:\Windows"

As CC says ignore me, but I'd put a six-pack on it that he's not tried deleting or renaming Boot.ini just to check that's true, but it makes it easier later on to add switches to the boot line...

after all... the ones listed are not the defaults that would be used without a ini file.Thanks Guys!

that's not CC doing that... it's the web site, which is fairly clearly displayed on the image.

I might add that nobody here KNEW any of those details until you posted them.
