Solve : help my computer crashed?

Answer»

no thats the thing, the computer will not boot up into any mode. It just starts up and shows me the options screen where it doesnt matter WHETHER I choose safe modoe or any other option, because the computer shuts down and restarts to show me that same options screen again.Have you tried starting in safe mode with only the keyboard, mouse & monitor plugged in.

You do not need to be able to boot into Windows to run a hard disk diagnostic program.
i guess i dont understand what you mean. The only safe mode I know of is the option you get when you hit F8, which I believe requires Windows, how else do you get into safe mode?

And when you say only the keyboard, mouse and monitor, do you mean take off any other periperals like printer, webcam, etc? Yes that's what he means....
Yes I have just the keyboard, monitor, and mouse plugged in. The computer just displays the options screen whenever it boots. And then no matter which option I choose, the computer shuts down, reboots and goes back to that same screen. So I cant get it to go to safe mode the REGULAR way (I guess the windows way) Is there another way of getting it into safe mode so that I can do a system restore?
Thanks Patio.

Also test your hard drive with software from the manufacturer's website.
just out of curiosity, how are you on the internet right now? do you have another computer... cause rather then go through all of this trouble is 100x easier to just run the broken hd as a slave, back up all of the files, and just reinstall all of windows.hOw

Youre right I am on a different computer right now, and I guess I can transfer the hard disk to the GOOD coimputer to back up the files. When I reinstall windows on the other computer, I would need to reinstall all the drivers again wont I?

There is no way that you know of that I can fix that computer and stop it from going to the options screen, is there? I dont know what I did other than downloadig and installing something on the computer right before it went haywire. My first thought was do a system restore, but I would need it to go to windows to do that right?

Quit looking for an easier, SOFTER way and follow the steps already given to you. A failing hdd is a logical reason for the problem that you describe and must be ruled out before proceeding.
