Solve : Help my computer shuts in 2 seconds?

Answer»

Well here goes:

I was online gaming yestorday and went off my computer about 4am, and went to bed, today I woke up at like 10am took a shower and went down to my basement to open my computer and then get something to eat.

(Just my life story lolz) (skip if you're too lazy to read)

*censored* when I press the power botton and went back upstairs it turned on like NORMALLY and then 2 SECONDS after it just turns off, so I check the power and stuff (not really the problem since it turned "on" then turned "off") everything was fine, I was just wonder if anyone know what my problem is?

Info on my computer:
-It's a custom destop (not labtop)
-I LEAVE the cover for the side open so it cools down better (my friend say because it's in the basement and it has humidnity)
-it has a P4 3.00Ghz CPU

I will post more info on it later once I find the paper I put my info on

Thank you all for helping and reading.Ok here it is:

CPU: Intel P4 3.0E/3.0C
Motherboard: ASUS P4P800 E Deluxe
Memory: Samsung 512mb DDR400 + Kingston 512mb (forgot the code)
Hard Drive: WD 160Gb SATA

OS: Windows XP SP2

Lemme know if you want to know more.

Edited: Graphic card: ATi 9600 Pro 256MbFirst thing you have to confirm is that you have a reliable power source. Plug the computer into a different outlet. You didn't mention what you have for protection. It could be a virus. Google Blaster.worm/Lovesan.worm This will also cause your computer to shut down. Can you start in safe mode?Ok first of all Thanks for answering,

And yes I am get a stable power source, I even check the main power for the whole house.

And the power thingy inside can take 350W, I dont know what you mean by that. >.<

Edited: And no I can't start in safe mode, because the computer doesn't even start, well it does but it opens for 2 second but the monitor is just plain black.Wow your computer shuts off after 2 seconds? You must be a fast typer!

I just wanted to know what you're using for Anti-virus program.I use some CHINESE Anti-Vire program, it's pretty famous in china.

You're probly wondering why, I share a computer with my dad. So we have a chineses version of windows xp, but I can garrentee that it is NOT my anti-virse.well thanks guys for paying attention, but I got it fixed some computer expert came over and found the problem. It was my hardrive it's being stupid, works sometimes and doesn't work the other times. Well all in all he SAID that it's starting to screw up. To verify his diagnosis you should DLoad and run the diagnostics from the drive manuf. website.
This will tell you if it is indeed the HDD...Would this not be the psu ?

It could be fried if possible try a different one i don't think it's the PSU. But i can't be sure it's the harddrive either.
