Solve : Help Please!!!!!!?

Answer»

hope someone can help, we're on our 4th day now trying to fix this problem.
the computer is a toshiba satellite laptop, model A100-496, when bought was xp professional, media centre
but the toshiba disk, has stopped working, so its now running windows home xp.

PROBLEM: norton go back, auto back, after allowing laptop to auto back it crashed at 30%, checked out forums, norton site etc, found software to download on norton site to unhook norton goback and then disable it, sounded easy!

well got the software onto disk, via differerent computer since the toshiba, wont boot or do anything, anyways, got disk put into toshiba laptop, gave 4 options, norton says to pick option 1, done that, went to 20%, screen froze and crashed again,

now it wont do anything except, we can run 1 disk, pc utilities, with disk genius on it, cant run our windows disk or anything, the toshiba seems to think our hard drive is a FLOPPY diskette, and has changed from ntfs to fat 12?

anyone any ideas, or had this problem or ever heard of it, really stuck with this one, tried formatting drive, nothing works

thanksWhat do you mean "the toshiba disk has stopped working"?please help me too. I keep getting this error message "cannot determine windows capture resolution. You must run the configuration program to set the video settings" How can I get rid of this error??Quote from: dbroghammer on September 03, 2007, 06:15:04 PM

dgbrohammer...

As i suggested in your first post it's best to start a new topic so it can recieve the proper attention...it just will not come up on the toshiba computer, we've put it into 1 of our other computers and that computer can open the files, but the toshiba laptop it belongs to, cant read it at all, thats even before all the hassle with the norton auto backAt startup on the laptop and before you see the Windows logo at the bottom of the screen it will tell you the command to enter setup...F2, F10 Delete etc...
Re-boot and hit the appropiate command and once in setup go to Advanced Menu and set the CDRom drive as the first boot device, the HDD as second and the floppy (if applicable) as 3rd.
Press F10 to save changes and exit.
The laptop will re-boot automatically so have the Toshiba CD in and it should go directly to the setup screen.
Follow the instructions to restore the system to it's Day One state.

You will lose ALL your data and any programs that have been installed since it was new...
If this is not the procedure you want post back and let us KNOW...thanks but we are way past that part, the computer wont even boot up anymore, wont load disks anything, it just says invalid partition tableTry this link and be sure to follow the other links to tell you how to TROUBLESHOOT the HD.
http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/booterrGBER31-c.htmlIt seems that your partitions in your hdd if any have corrupted and the comp DOESNT recognise it.
