Answer»

I have a HP Pavillion DV2500 laptop  with Windows VISTA,and I preceeded to reformat it.Put in recovery disc, waited til finished, then message came up that recovery failed in video file.I then SPOKE to HP tech, and he said my recovery disc were corrupted and to order new recovery, did as he said and ordered new recovery disc, but it failed also in video file. Can anyone please explain how disc get corrupted if put in a sleeve and taken care of,then new disc fail also. Please let me know what can be HAPPENING,as I'm very confused.
ThanksNot sure about the video thing...
Post the entire message you get including any gibberish when the install fails...When the recovery finishes,it gives a LIST of things that passed, and in the list ,it shows was has failed. All things passed except the video file.Sorry disn't save the list.Recreate the issue and post the full error message...OkI ran the recovery disc again and after around 3 hours this is what it said.
Recovery attempt has failed, please select one of the following buttons.

Did you try to use recovery partition? No ,I haven't tried to use recovery partition, please let me know how to do that.Your link to the forum is very helpful and seems like many people are having the same problem as I am.New recovery CDs are suppose to come today, but after reading the forum,I suspect they will fail also.
Thanks,I have another desktop Pc from HP ,and I also need to reformat it.I received recovery disc today, but haven't tried, because I've experienced so much trouble with my laptop and recovery disc ending in as failed,I' m very afraid to even beging on the desktop,as I know I should backup my files first so I don't end up with a PC that  is messed up ,because of faulty recovery disc from HP,but I don't have a clue on how to do this. Can anyone explain,or give me info on how to back up your files and burn a cd with info on it from the PC.
Thanks,Try this for backing up the most important data: http://www.fpnet.fr/index2.php?lang=en&section=software

As for recovery partition, press F11 at HP logo. Thanks Broni, the link you gave for backing up files was great, but still having problems with the HP laptop Pavillion DV2500,as the new recovery disk sent by Hp also failed.Where do I go from here to try and get my laptop back in working condition?
Thanks,Did you?

As for recovery partition, press F11 at HP logo.
This may or may not be an issue - but I have found that, in many cases, when any change has been made to the original disk partition(s), on detection of the change(s), the recovery software aborts the process.  In several instances, the owner has had the machine in for repairs at a local shop, and the repair shop may have altered or damaged the original disk partitions.Yes Pressed F11 at logo screen and got on there, but when I pressed up and down keys the pc shut down.I haven't had this laptop in for any repairs,so that isn't the problem. What do I highlight in the recovery partition and then what do I do?Please if time give full instructions.
Thanks,There should be on-screen instructions.
