Solve : Help, windows close when mention certain words :S? |

Answer» Hi, I have a major problem on my computer. It has something against the words 'security' and 'virus'. Whenever either of these words appear in the title of a window (the blue bar at the top of each window) the computer closes it with in about 10 seconds :S. I cant find out if it is a virus or not as when I go to install Norton AntiVirus it closes the bloody installation down lol! Please can some one help me at all? If anymore information is needed about the problem just ask... This strategy has worked for me before. Good Luck.Luis: Sounds like a virus to me. Please answer three questions: What operating system do you have installed? Have you tried booting to the Norton Anti-virus CD to run a virus scan from the CD or do you have any Norton Anti-virus rescue DISKS? Did you write down the words of any error messages (even cryptic ones) that appeared? Three things you might try: A. Go to a friend's computer and download and SAVE the Avert Stinger virus removal "booster shot" to a floppy disk. Then, boot your computer to Safe Mode and run the program from the floppy. The tool is offered free by the makers of the McAfee anti-virus program. The download site is here: http://vil.nai.com/vil/averttools.asp B. Try a few of the free online virus scans: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=free+online+virus+scan&btnG=Google+Search (This option might not work if the virus has altered your HOSTS file or taken other MEASURES to prevent you from using your WEB browser to reach these sites.) C. Search the common keys in your registry that viruses often USE to start when your system loads Windows.
