Solve : Help with 2 OS'?

Answer»

I bought a computer from my friend and it came with 2 OS' on it. XP Home, and XP Pro. I was wondering how i can delete XP Home without deleting Both of them because i only have the XP Home CD and i can't reinstall XP Pro if i delete everything.

ThanksWait, you want to get rid of the OS you have a CD for? That could cause IMPLICATIONS in the future, you know.

Ask yourself: Do you really need Pro rather than Home? If the answer is no, format the puppy and reinstall Home (ASSUMING all data needed is backed up)

If you do need XP Pro... then someone who has experience with two OSes at once will be around shortly.

/me signs offYOu must have 2 partitions to install 2 OS, I assume there is no data you want to keep as you've just bought this from a friend, find out which partition each OS are installed on, delete which ever one you don't want and you need to edit your startup display by type in MSCONFIG at the run command select the boot.ini tab

CigarmanA dual boot Home/Pro system?  Bonkers.

Presumably you're admitting that you have no licence to use the Pro version.  So I'd FRY the whole hard drive and START again with Home.  Unless you're connecting to a corporate network, you probably don't need Pro's extra features anyway.
