|
Answer» I'm having trouble getting on to the Web. It is trying to RENEW my IP address. I have tried the IPCONFIG /renew and it hasn't worked. I have tried everything I can think of. Plus my toolbar has turned grey; I think this is a Theme thing that I don't know how to change. Thanks for any helpTypically, you need to release your old IP before you can get a new one. Try to turn off your modem if you are connected through DSL Modem and then try to reset it by pressing "Reset Button" from the back of the modem. If you reset the modem like this you will need to set it back up. I wouldn't do that. Just shut everything down.....modem....router....computer. After a moment start the modem and wait for it to come backup....about 1 min....then restart your router...wait about 1 min....then restart your computer. If you reset a modem it will reconfigure itself upon power up. Quote If you reset a modem it will reconfigure itself upon power up. You win......pushing the factory reset button is a good thing. It doesn't have any chance to setting the modem (depending on brand) into a state that locks it up. And just rebooting it by powering it off and back on isn't the best WAY to handle this problem. If you have a cable modem, you may want to also renew its IP address. First, go ahead and release the IP address on the PC, then shut the computer down. Next, UNPLUG the cable modem for a couple of minutes, then PLUG it back in again. Once all of the modem lights are green, power up the PC again. It should automatically renew its IP at boot.Is there a router involved? |
