Solve : Help with partitions??

Answer»

I am trying to re-install XP using the SETUP cd.

When I try to delete the partition that XP is already installed on (the C: drive), it says

"Setup is unable to delete this partition because it contains temporary files needed for setup to continue"

How can i delete the partition on C: drive and do a clean install?Try formatting the partition with the cd.

Is there anything we might be able to do to help your XP isnstead of reinstalling it?Thanks 4 quick reply.

How do I get rid of the setup files already COPIED to the C: drive and format the partition using the cd?

Are you booting to the CD, or are you inserting the disk after the operating system is already LOADED?I inserted the setup disc after WINDOWS had already loaded.you need to PUT the disk in your computer. turn it off, and turn it back on. it might say something like "press any key to boot from cd'. if you dont see anthing like this, you may need to change device boot order so that your cd drive is firstI tried that but instead of asking me to boot from the cd, it asks me "which would I like to run: windows xp pro or windows xp pro setup?"

I chose setup and its still saying can't delete the partition.

Do I have to just finish the setup process and start over?could u please give us your compute specsAnd what exactly it says on this Recovery CD...
This part is kinda important.
