Solve : help with windows media player?

Answer»

I watched my soap opera's regularly thru cbs with windows media player. I also checked out my the highlights of my baseball team. My COMPUTER crashed the other night. I now have everything up and running, but I can not watch these videos with media player anymore. I dont get an error message or anything. The video starts for a second says buffering and then quits. I try again and I get the same thing. I checked my firewall to SEE if wmp was being blocked and NO. Full access to the internet. Please help. I have tried everything else. Thanks Alot Have you tried to uninstall and then reinstall it? What version of media player do you have?I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. I used both wmp 10, and 11. I currently have version 10. I just dont understand what the problem is. I checked my firewall and Media player was given full access to the internet. What about your default settings? Is WMP your default media player? Version 11 should install over 10, so you should not be able to access 10. Have to tried to watch a DVD or a video from the internet?Quote from: clilangelsk on September 23, 2007, 05:00:45 PM

What were you doing when the computer crashed?
What error messages did you get?
If your system crashed, it did so for a reason..
If everything is up and running...what was it that you did to get it that way?Yes wmp is my default player. As for version 10 that was factory installed so unless i download 11, I will only have 10. I really dont know what else to do. I have downloaded 11 and when the problem didnt correct I deleted the program. All it did was DELETE the newest version, therefore 10 was still available. The Saviour.
I was playing a game when the pc crashed. It had been acting up for a while. Having problems with my anti virus, aol everything. The only thing that did work was my media player. The different video's online that I would watch would play on their site. I didnt have to open wmp. The actual media player screen never came up. That program was used to view the video. As for watching movies thru the wmp screen I have no problem with that. It works fine. The problem is media player is not connecting with the internet. I checked my firewall settings again and wmp has full access. All I did was reinstall the BACK up disc I have for the computer. It took it back to origional factory settings. Then I redownload the other programs anti virus, java, etc... and went thru a massive amount of updates. Everything is running fine now. Except wmp which is not connecting to the internet for some reason. What browser and version are you using to browse the Internet?

Internet Explorer 6...7? Firefox?Aol 9.0 VR could this be the problem up until the pc crashed I used Aol 9.0 Security edition. If so how do I go back to 9.0 security edition, without needing a disc? If you are using AOL...it is possible their security measures are keeping you from playing videos withn their browser as a safety precaution. You may need to contact their support to see if this is INDEED the issue here.

If you are connected to the Internet...try opening Internet Explorer...go to those pages that will not play the videos...see if IE will play them...I'm sure they will...but I've been wrong before.

You should have Internet Explorer installed on your computer...do you?

Give it a shot and let us know...
