Hello I just registered with Computer HOPE. My user ID is toten44. This is my first time asking a question through the forum. Here goes, I was recently given a Compaq Presario Model SR1130NX. The processor is an ADM Athlon XP3000+MMX 3D NOW 2.1 GHZ with 512mb of memory. The problem is that when I received the computer it did not have a hard drive or the Compaq operating/restore disk. I PURCHASED a 280g hard drive. I ASKED my brother to install the drive and Windows XP. Decided to download Compaq drivers. The problem is my hard drive is labeled [|:]. A REMOVABLE disk drive is labled[C:]. Compaq drivers only recognize C drive.How can I change Local drive to C drive so that I can install Compaq drivers to read cd-r, dvd player, and graphics drivers? Also I have Windows XP pro disk. When I start the computer no BIOS come up, goes straight to XP screen. Please remember I am a NEWBIE and I have never formated a drive before, a true novice. Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.
