i have a acer comp with vista.Everything works good except when i am reading or watching a video it will log off by it self if i don t move the mouse, how can i stop that from happening, thanks allPlease, post some computer info:
- processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
- hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")
- security programs in use (antivirus, firewall)I have a feeling that your computer is GOING into 'Standby' or that it is POWERING off the monitor.

What OS are you running, we can help you eliminate that as a suspect.thank so much for getting back. Not sure what os means but my comp is just a cheap one, azer with vista,160 gb beta hard disk, supermulti drive,1 gb ddr2 memory,le-1640 amdathlon processer, not sure what that all means and if thats what is needed, thanks again for helping Is this a laptop or a desktop system?a desk top systemCan you GO into 'Control Panel'>'Power Options' and disable the power savings mode. If you need more information on how to do this just let me KNOW.Quote from: earnhardt38 on July 04, 2009, 05:36:33 AM

OS = Operating System. Examples are Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Macintosh OSX, Ubuntu Linux, FreeBSD, etc...

That's your OS. Windows Vista

There's your problem right there.

I PERSONALLY wouldn't run Vista on anything less than 2 GB of memory. Vista's come a long way since its release in 2007, and can actually run okay on 1 GB of RAM, but again, 2 GB should still be the general rule of thumb.

My advice is to do the following:

1) Find out what the exact model of your PC is. Just "Acer" is not good enough.

2) Go to http://www.crucial.com and select the make and model of your PC. It'll tell you what the maximum amount of memory your computer can take.

3) Purchase the appropriate RAM. You don't have to buy from Crucial, but it does make things easier when you don't know all the RAM speak like DDR1/2/3, CAS latencies, RAM speeds, and whatnot.

4) Install RAM in PC. Despite the fact that you do have to open up the side of your computer case, it is still one of the easiest things to install inside a computer.

5) ?????

6) Profit! Your Vista is now happy! :)
