Solve : Hijack This Question?

Answer»

if anybody does not already know, i have deactivated my on-board sound and uninstalled the drivers. however, two files STILL remain according to Hijack This. these are the files...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RTHDCPL] RTHDCPL.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

they are both for RealTek High Quality Surround Sound etc. etc.....

my question is, if i delete them via Hijack This, will this make my system unstable in any way or somehow advertly effect it?It should be fine. Some have linked that second one to some sort of mild spyware, I believe.

You could also do it with mscong, so if problems, they are reversible.nah their not spyware ther both from RealTek. (i keep a close EYE on what my COMP is doing). i just disabled them via msconfig. thanks for the help. Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor. "Spyware" file used surreptitiously monitor one's actions. It is not a sinister one, like remote control programs, but it is being used by Realtek to gather data about customers.

Call me paranoid.  And call me correct!  yes, yes you were right... Quote

Dis-abling them via msconfig is only for the current session...use services.msc from the COMMAND prompt or DLoad and install Startup CPL from Mike Lin...
